Hello,
It has been a long time since i have updated the blog and so much has happened since i last posted in 2007!! I will try to update it more regularly as we have lots going on at the farm, especially in the spring/summer months.
As most of you are aware, we have the pleasure of hosting two clinics in July. Jackie Chant will be teaching a two day, Level 2/3 Clinic on Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th July and Russell Higgins will be teaching a three day, Level 3 Clinic on Saturday 25th - Monday 27th July.
We have one rider place remaining for Russell’s clinic. A waiting list is now in place for Jackie’s Clinic. Spectators are most welcome at either clinic.
If you would like to book a place or you have any questions please email me via the contact page on Earth Horse.
We are gearing up for our next Playday on Sunday 14th June after our last one just three weeks ago! We are full for this playday, however we can always squeeze one more in should you fancy joining in the fun!
Until next time,
Savvy On….

After lots of hard work and prior and proper preparation our Playday was once again a huge success!! We had the pleasure of welcoming new students and their horses as well as catching up with old and dear friends. Students travelled from all over the UK, with Chloe Elliston showing true commitment with a 400 mile round trip from Suffolk!! Thank you Chloe.
The weather was totally glorious with temperatures reaching 26′C and not a cloud in the sky - perfect! The new obstacles were very well received which allowed some great Savvy to be demonstrated.
Below are some snap shots of the day, hope you enjoy looking at the them.
See you next time…. Date for you diary: - Sunday 14th June….
Savvy on…….

The gorgeous sunny weather made for another valuable, fun packed lesson with Alison. After a deluge of rain complete with thunder and lightening the week before the outlook for our clinic with Alison was looking rather bleak, it turned out not to be the case and it couldn’t have been more perfect!!
We started out by playing online, improving our canter draws from 45ft. Alison gave us some great tips on how to set this up for success and encourage the draw at a faster speed, all horses made a great effort which was rewarded with long dwell periods, perfect insentive for our Left Brained equines.
Liberty was next on the order of the day. All 3 horses playing at liberty with their human out in the field. Bertie and Rosie had “happy feet” and really felt the need to move them, they were quite extrovert!! Pepper joined in the fun with Bertie, but was a little “lost”, he thought he should tag along, but was really keen to get back to Kaye for comfort!
Alison challenged us to a “Par de tois” bareback, this was great fun and we enjoyed pushing our imagination to task, all very exhilarating! (The photo’s say it all!)
Following lunch we moved onto a ridden session. After checking our horses out, we played with Flying Lead Changes and the Gallop, this was really good fun and everyone had some success, there is no stopping you now Niki!!
Snakey bends with Finesse followed, which helps improve longitudinal and latitudinal flexibility. It was lovely to see and feel the softness and lightness between horse and rider. Last up was bridless riding which was so much fun, Niki and Rosie have some really great things happening as did Kaye and Pepper. Bertie and i played with downward transitions and backing up, which for a horse that has more go than whoa is interesting to say the least.
We finished up by discussing the day and planning our next clinic with Alison. A big thank you to Alison for all her help, advice and tips, we now have some great strategies to consolidate level 3 principles. Niki and Kaye it was pleasure as always, see you very soon..

Hello Fellow Friends,
The Savvy Playday that was held on Sunday 29th April was yet another roaring success with 15 Horses & Humans taking part and enjoying the ever increasing challenges here at Barrow Hill Farm. It was lovely to meet some new students, with and without horses and it was great to catch up with familiar faces too, Horses included!
Students travelled far and wide to join us and i think Terri & Andy Martinus must have had the longest journey from Brighton, closely followed by Vicky Manser from Bournemouth and the “gang” you know who you are - Margaret, Claire, Niki, Tina & Cath from Wales! Thankyou to everyone who came, it makes all our hardwork at the farm worth while to see you all out enjoying yourselves with your horses!
The weather held out for us, considering it had been very sunny the week before, a little drizzle in the morning didn’t dampen anyones spirits.
We had some great obstacles and challenges for you to play with, it was interesting to watch you and your horses at play. The water jump was a particular challenge for some, while others just took it all in their little Left Brained stride. I think our favourite obstacle must have been the Roadwork’s, we had such a giggle putting it all together, i am sure our Horsey neighbours think we have finally lost the plot!! Most of you attempted all of the challenges, such as the Washing line, Garden/Flower squeeze, Rocking Bridge and the Car wash etc. I will attach some photo’s of you all at play for a reminder. If you would like any pictures please email me and i will send them to you, courtesy of Terry. Thank you Terry for taking the photograps, you did a wonderful job as usual.
As requested by you guys, we will be holding more Savvy playdays etc, so mosey on over to the Calendar at www.earth-horse.co.uk and see if you and your horse can make it?!
Until next time..
Stacey
